our resident artist and creator

Since joining our team in 1990 as a chambermaid, Penny is the creative driving force at Talland Bay. As our artist in residence, Penny is the mastermind behind our hotel's distinctive and playful style. Every corner is infused with her unparalleled imagination. Penny is also a passionate believer in upcycling, which supports our 'reduce and reuse' sustainability ethos.

Her masterpieces include the enchanting Talland Bay-inspired Scrabble board picture in Reception, the whimsical table embedded in the upstairs landing wall and the striking golden mannequin in the ladies' washroom. Step outside and you will discover the zebra pig and charming dovecote, each piece a testament to her boundless creativity.

Reflecting on her journey, Penny: “Since designing my first room at Talland Bay, I've learnt so much and it's the unexpected that truly belongs here. As a designer, I'm happiest when my designs create surprise and delight for guests.”

By sourcing most of our food locally, our food is fresh and tasty. Plus we are proud to support our neighbours, who are doing fantastic work.

Cornwall Air Ambulance

We passionately support the Cornwall Air Ambulance. It provides an invaluable service to our local community. To show our support we have hosted private charity lunches, which have raised £40K so far and we encourage our guests to donate. We’ll continue to host events in the future and help the Cornwall Air Ambulance in any way we can.
